October 18th was a busy day at Portland Rescue Mission’s Burnside Shelter. KOIN Local 6 hosted their fifth annual Meal to Remember, feeding 439 Portland Rescue Mission guests. In addition to providing a beautiful meal, thanks to generous sponsors Sysco, Portland Prime, Country Natural, Beaverton Bakery, Pastini and Black Rock Coffee, KOIN promoted a seven-hour clothing drive, raising over 3,900 pounds of much needed donations to help keep homeless people in our community warm during the cold months to come.

Portland Rescue Mission received a multitude of exposure in each news break on KOIN, driving traffic to the Burnside Shelter for donations as well as increasing awareness of the great need they are facing this upcoming holiday season. Additionally, well-known KOIN talent and staff were on-hand to serve meals, seeing first hand the face of homelessness in our community.
