Co-Branding Through Meaningful Partnership

At Edge Multimedia, we are experts at building mutually beneficial cross-promotional partnerships between organizations that garner consumer goodwill and brand loyalty as well as make a difference to the bottom line. This skill was clearly displayed in a recent campaign that we facilitated between Elmer’s Restaurants and client Portland Rescue Mission.

Elmer's CEO Jerry Scott and Portland Rescue Mission Executive Director Eric Bauer pair up to educate viewers in a TV PSA created by Edge Multimedia.

Our success story begins with aligning two completely different organizations, uncovering their common core values and building a proposal around meeting the needs of both. It is not easily done.

“Just $1.88 will feed one man, woman or child who would otherwise go without a meal,” said Eric Bauer, Executive Director of Portland Rescue Mission.  “We were excited to partner with Elmer’s and help more people during the holiday season.”

For four weeks, patrons of Elmer’s Restaurants were provided an opportunity to add increments of $1.88 to their tab and help provide meals and care to people right here in our own community. Additionally, Elmer’s Restaurants matched each donation, meal for meal, up to 5,000 meals.

From October 31st through November 27th, the 5,000 meal match was met with enthusiasm by donors, who raised a total of 10,284 meals during the promotional window. Additonally, a creative  partnership between these two organizations was solidified and the foundation of a long-term relationship was laid.

Edge Multimedia facilitated not only the outline of the partnership, but also managed the moving parts that made it work. From writing and producing TV PSA’s to harnessing social media, in-store signage, waitstaff incentives and much more, Edge carefully crafted the details on back end of this partnership to ensure it’s success.

Both parties received multiple layers of benefits from the partnership. Portland Rescue Mission provides more than 230,000 hot meals each year and is expecting a 15 percent increase in this coming year alone.  In addition to providing a hot meal, the mission also offers emergency shelter, 24-hour restrooms for men and women, mail service, clothing, referral services, recovery care and job training. Through this partnership with Elmer’s Restaurants, we were able to help Portland Rescue Mission continue to meet a growing need in our community as well as drive traffic and focus positive attention on a worthy Northwest owned and operated business – Elmer’s Restaurants –  a family oriented company that is committed to helping those in need.
